Brown Announces Nearly $95,000 in Federal Funds to Support and Protect Fire Department in Lake County

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $94,189 to Mentor Fire Department for Operations and Safety. The funds were awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.

“Firefighters and first responders keep our communities safe in times of crisis,” said Brown. “These funds will ensure that Mentor’s firefighters have the resources they need to continue to serve their community.”

The AFG program helps firefighters and other first responders protect the public and themselves. Projects funded in the Operations and Safety category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective equipment. More information about the AFG program can be found here.
