WASHINGTON, D.C - New federal resources will provide critical support services for homeless and low-income veterans in Marietta. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Community Action Program Corporation of Washington-Morgan Counties in Washington County has been awarded a new federal grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The $507,000 grant will be used to provide supportive services to low-income veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent housing.

“Our veterans have been promised that if they defend our country, a grateful nation will provide them with services and benefits they have earned,” Brown, a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, said. “These federal funds are a down payment on the promise to support those who have already given so much to our nation.”

The grant was awarded through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program which aims to prevent and end homelessness among veterans. The Community Action Program Corporation of Washington-Morgan Counties plans to serve approximately 100 participant households in Washington, Morgan, Muskingum, Gallia, and Meigs Counties.
