WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $1,361,200 has been awarded to the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The federal funds will be used to purchase four compressed natural gas replacement buses in Canton.

“This is great news for Stark County,” Brown said. “These improvements will help the Ohio residents, businesses, and visitors who rely on SARTA for safe and affordable transit in and around Canton.”

Stark Area Regional Transit Authority serves more than 2 million riders in Stark County annually.
