WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $798,987 was awarded to the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery in Erie County. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) funds will be used to revitalize headstones and rehabilitate the cemetery grounds.
“Our veterans have earned the respect of a grateful nation,” Brown, a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, said. “These funds will help ensure that Ohio’s veterans are afforded the proper honor and dignity, even after they have been laid to rest.”
The grant will help provide improved service to veterans and their families in Ohio and help the cemetery meet National Cemetery Administration Appearance Standards. The project will include work on over 4,000 headstones and approximately 235,000 square feet of turf.
