WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Senate unanimously passed legislation to rename the Stow Post Office in honor of Marine Cpl. Joseph Tomci of Stow, who was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq.

“Marine Cpl. Tomci was an honorable young man who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country,” Brown said. “We can never repay his service, but we can honor his profound contribution to our nation.”

Tomci, 21, was on his second tour of duty in Iraq commanding 12 other Marines when he was killed in the Al Anbar province on August 2, 2006.  A graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, Tomci was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

The bill next goes to the president for his signature.
