WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) applauded news that nursing staff at Mercy Health St. Vincent approved a tentative agreement to end the ongoing strike. Brown has encouraged all sides to come to the table since before the strike. He sent a letter in June, encouraging Mercy Health St. Vincent and workers to build on the recent success of negotiations that brought technical and support staff back to work, and return to the negotiating table to reach a deal for nursing staff. Brown released the following statement in response to the agreement.
“This is good news for nurses, patients and the community. I thank all sides for coming together to reach a deal,” said Brown.
