TOLEDO, OH—U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the following statement today to commemorate the groundbreaking of the new VA Toledo Community-Based Outpatient Clinic. A representative from Brown’s office will attend the event.
“This new VA clinic, right here in Toledo, will help bring top-quality medical care closer to home for more of northwest Ohio’s veterans,” Brown said. “Our veterans, who put their lives on the line for our freedom and security, deserve top-notch medical care. As a member of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I won’t stop fighting to ensure that veterans in Ohio and across America receive the benefits that they earned with their service.”
According to the VA, the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System currently provides healthcare services to approximately 10,000 Veterans in northwest Ohio. The new clinic will provide space and equipment to meet the growing demand for outpatient services. VA and the University of Toledo, through their affiliation and joint planning efforts, will also provide expanded education and research opportunities in conjunction with the new clinic. The project will result in enhanced services and improved access for Toledo-area Veterans, and will generate numerous construction jobs in the Toledo area.
Brown, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, is the author of several legislative initiatives that would strengthen our nation's commitment to veterans by improving education reimbursements and expanding employment protection for former service members.
