WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the statement below following House passage of the Raise the Wage Act, legislation that would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Brown is a cosponsor of the Senate Raise the Wage Act and is calling on Leader McConnell to immediately take up the legislation.

“I applaud the House for taking this important step toward getting workers the wages they have earned. All across the country, Americans are working harder than ever but have less and less to show for it. I urge Leader McConnell to act now on the Raise the Wage Act, so we can put more money back where it belongs—in the pockets of hardworking Americans.”
