WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today applauded news that Dayton will remain the site of the First Four NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship games through 2013. Brown led the Congressional pressure to keep the tournament games in Dayton which has hosted the opening rounds of the tournament since 2001.

“The Miami Valley and the University of Dayton are the perfect hosts to kick off March Madness. Each year, this event attracts thousands of basketball fans from across the nation to our state,” Brown said. “This tournament is a perfect opportunity to showcase Dayton on a national stage and is a critical source of revenue for local hotels, restaurants, and small businesses. By continuing to start the tournament in Dayton, the NCAA selection committee is reaffirming Dayton’s place in the tournament.”
