Brown Applauds Nomination of Centerville Native for U.S. Army Secretary

Eric Fanning Would Become First Openly Gay Head of a Military Branch

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today applauded President Obama’s nomination of Eric Fanning, a Centerville native, to become secretary of the U.S. Army. If confirmed, Fanning will become the first openly gay secretary of a military branch.

“Eric Fanning is a dedicated public servant,” said Brown. “His experience working for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Army will serve him well as he leads our nation’s Army. I look forward to supporting Eric’s historic nomination.”
