WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today released the following statement in response to reports that the Trump administration’s plans to cut $4 million in funds for projects at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, in order to pay for disaster relief at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The funding for Tyndall is included in a disaster aid package that the House of Representatives passed nearly three months ago. But President Trump and Republican leadership have prevented it from passing the Senate by insisting that funding for Puerto Rico be stripped out. Brown is calling on the Senate to take up the full disaster bill and pass it immediately to protect these projects at Wright Patt.

“This never should have happened. The House of Representatives passed disaster funding months ago and the Senate could pass it today if President Trump and Congressional Republicans would stop playing political games with Puerto Rico and do their jobs,” Brown said.

These latest cuts from the Trump Administration come after the President has already threatened funding for Wright-Patt and other military installations in order to pay for his wall along the Mexican border.
