TOLEDO, OH – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today released the following statement after reports that President Trump claimed to support funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), despite proposing 90 percent cut to program funding.
“President Trump has repeatedly slashed funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Sen. Portman and I have repeatedly fought back to get the funding restored. If the President is serious about keeping our Great Lakes healthy, including Lake Erie, he’ll stop playing games with the GLRI and work with us to commit the resources necessary to protect our Great Lakes.”
