LORAIN, OH – Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) spoke at the ribbon cutting for the Ariel on Broadway Hotel. The Ariel on Broadway is a newly-renovated hotel on the site of the former Spitzer Hotel. The hotel renovations were overseen by Ariel Ventures, LLC, a 100 percent women and minority-owned firm.
The new Ariel on Broadway Hotel will have 56 hotel rooms, an event center and restaurant and will feature office and retail space on the first floor. The developer expects at least 50 jobs to be created as a result of the project.
“Wall Street investors and too many people in Washington want to write off communities like Lorain. This hotel and the development throughout downtown make it clear – when we work together and get the whole community involved in redevelopment, we can see growth in places like Lorain,” said Brown.
Brown joined Lorain Mayor Jack Bradley, Ariel Ventures Partner Radhika Reddy and Tom Brown, Executive Director of the Lorain Port Authority at today’s ribbon cutting.
