Brown Invites Ohioans to Attend ‘Grow With Google’ Workshop Friday in Cleveland

One-Day Event Helps Small Businesses, Job Seekers Develop Digital Skills

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) hosted a news conference call to invite Ohioans to register for “Grow with Google,” a one-day, free event to connect Ohioans with tools and resources to help them find a job, start a business, or grow their careers.

  • “Grow with Google” will take place Friday, May 11th from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Cuyahoga Community College’s Hospitality Management Center in Cleveland. Ohioans interested in attending can register here.

“As Ohioans increasingly learn, do business, and communicate online, I’m glad to be partnering with Google to help connect Ohioans with new digital skills to help them find a job, start a business, or grow their careers,” said Sen. Brown.

Friday’s event will feature workshops, hands-on demonstrations and one-on-one coaching sessions for Ohioans hoping to further develop online skills and grow their business or individual careers.

Brown was joined on today’s call by Helen Qin, co-owner of Mason’s Creamery in Cleveland, which will be a featured small business at Friday’s event.

“Without the help of search engines and internet tools like Google, starting a business would have been far more difficult - from learning about what’s needed to get a business license to what the appropriate margins are in the food business,” said Qin.

Brown is continuing his work to connect Ohio small businesses with resources to expand their companies and create more jobs for Ohioans. Brown hosted a similar small business workshop in Columbus last fall.
