WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met with two members of the National Education Association (NEA)’s National Board of Directors and the Ohio Education Association (OEA), including Gretchen Washington of Cincinnati.

“The work of the National and Ohio Education Associations helps hold public education institutions to the highest possible standards to ensure that our students are ready to enter the workforce or seek higher education,” said Brown. “It was an honor to meet Gretchen whose advocacy will benefit our youth’s education.”

According to its website, NEA is the largest professional employee organization in the nation and has a mission to advance the cause of public education. NEA has three million members and affiliate organizations in every state such as the OEA. OEA represents more than 121,000 Ohio teachers, faculty, and support professionals in Ohio’s public schools, colleges and universities.
