WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Senate has passed legislation that would rename a Sharon Center post office for community leader Emil Bolas.

The post office is located at 1332 Sharon Copley Road in Sharon Center. The House passed the bill—originally introduced by Rep. John Boccieri (OH-16)—in September, and it will now go on to be signed by the President.

“Emil Bolas was the quintessential community leader. He loved Sharon Township, he loved Ohio, and he loved this country,” Brown said. “We can never repay his service, but we can and should honor his contributions. With the naming of the Sharon Copley Road post office, we can ensure that Emil’s contributions will be remembered for generations to come.”

Emil Bolas was a trustee of Sharon Township in Medina County for more than 35 years. He also served 11 years as the zoning appeals board chairman. As a young man, Bolas served in the Army from 1953 to 1961. Upon his discharge, Bolas returned to work for Goodyear Aerospace and remained there for the next 38 years. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 76.
