WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement on the passing of long-time Northeast Ohio labor leader, Frank Valenta, who served as a former Director of United Steel Workers of America, District 28 and President of Cleveland AFL-CIO.

“Northeast Ohio has lost a pillar in the fight for workers’ rights. Whether Frank Valenta was standing on the picket lines with a megaphone in hand, or negotiating a better deal for workers, he understood the Dignity of Work. He showed up every single day ready to serve the workers he represented. And while his vibrant leadership will be missed, his commitment to labor lives on through the lives he fought so hard to improve. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time,” said Brown.
