WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General (HUDOIG) released its long-awaited report on the Trump’s Administration obstruction and delays in providing funding to the people of Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria:

“It should be no surprise that an Administration that fired so many Inspectors General also refused to answer their questions. Our fellow Americans, the people of Puerto Rico, were inexplicably forced to wait years for vital resources to rebuild and recover from a devastating natural disaster. The fact that these American citizens were first denied assistance, and then denied an explanation as to the mismanagement that further upended their lives is unacceptable. Thankfully, the Biden-Harris Administration has made it possible for Puerto Rico to put to work the funds it was denied. I look forward to working with HUD to help Puerto Rico build back stronger.”
