WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs – announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $410,000 grant to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority through its Choice Neighborhoods Grant program. This investment will help local leaders revitalize Stanley Rowe Highrises, Stanley Rowe Rowhouses, & Liberty Street Apartments in Cincinnati and attract new opportunities for residents.

“By building high-quality, affordable housing and offering neighborhood amenities that keep residents safe, healthy, and connected to job opportunities, local leaders and stakeholders can help strengthen the Cincinnati community,” said Brown.

The Choice Neighborhoods program is a neighborhood revitalization program that utilizes public and private funding to support locally-driven efforts to address neighborhoods that struggle with severely distressed public and/or HUD-assisted housing. Local leaders, residents, and other stakeholders, such as public housing authorities, cities, schools, police, business owners, and nonprofits, come together to create and implement a plan that revitalizes distressed HUD-assisted housing and improves the quality of life and opportunities available to residents in the surrounding neighborhood.

Brown has led efforts to work for a more equitable housing system.
