WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) helped pass the final Military Construction, Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which includes a $29 million investment to expand Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Earlier this summer, Brown helped secure these funds as a member of the NDAA Conference Committee. That bill authorized the spending, this bill provides the actual $29 million investment.
The version passed by the Senate today has already been reconciled with the House and will be sent to the President’s desk to be signed into law as soon as the House votes on final passage.
“Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery serves as a memorial to Ohio’s heroes,” said Brown. “This funding will ensure that Northeast Ohio veterans have the final resting place they have earned and deserve.”
Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery is the second national cemetery built in Ohio and the 119th in the national cemetery system. It serves as a resting place for veterans and their families.
