WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) secured $1 million in funding to research and develop linear generators in the Energy and Water appropriations bill that passed the Senate yesterday. Linear generators are an understudied alternative to fuel cells to help reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. Currently, the technology is produced by Sunpower, Inc. in Athens.
“Workers at companies like Sunpower are doing important work to make the technology we use every day more efficient,” said Brown. “By learning more and working to develop this cutting-edge technology, we can invest in Ohio workers and support companies like Sunpower.”
The bill must now be reconciled with the House bill before becoming law. Brown will keep fighting for the funding as the process moves forward.
