WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Rural Development has approved a $1,089,000 loan guarantee to assist with new construction of the Hope Senior Village in East Canton. The project will construct a multifamily senior housing complex with a total of 24 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom units housed in eight apartment buildings. The complex will also include a community center with a fitness center, laundry room, community room and common kitchen.

“Our economy and our communities cannot recover until every Ohioan has a place to call home,” said Brown. “This critical investment will help addresses the urgent need for affordable housing for seniors, while creating construction and development jobs and promoting economic development in East Canton.”

Additional funding will come from Deferred Developers Fee for $621,884, FHLB AHP Grant for $1,000,000, Huntington National Bank for $500, Hope Senior Village, LLC for $500, OHFA Tax Credits for $6,355,764, and Stark County Regional Planning Commission for $300,000.

Brown has been a leader for Ohio’s rural communities, fighting to secure crucial funding for USDA grant and loan programs. He is the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in more than 50 years.
