OBERLIN, Ohio – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) attended and gave remarks at the ribbon cutting for the new Lorain County Health and Dentistry (LCH&D) Clinic in Oberlin today. LCH&D estimates that the new clinic will employ at least 16 staff members with 15,000 patient visits per year.
“Community Health Centers help strengthen the regions they serve by caring for Ohioans who often have nowhere else to turn,” said Brown. “LCH&D is a key resource for Lorain County, and with their new clinic in Oberlin they can now expand their efforts to keep the entire community healthy.”
“It has been part of our strategic plan for some time to expand our services in Oberlin, Wellington and rural Lorain County communities further south. A site in this location improves accessibility for a vulnerable population that would likely go without health care. We are grateful for the support of Oberlin and its leaders without which the project would not have been possible,” said Stephanie Wiersma, LCH&D President & CEO. “We are constantly striving to do more, serve more and offer more. It’s part of who we are.”
The Oberlin clinic is LCH&D’s fifth community health center location in addition to its locations in Elyria and Lorain.
