SANDUSKY, OH – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) applauded tomorrow’s opening of the NASA Glenn Research Center Plum Brook Station’s new main gate. The Plum Brook Station in Sandusky is home to top-notch testing facilities, including the world’s largest vacuum chamber in the Space Power Facility. The new main entrance will make the Plum Brook Station more accessible and increase its profile as an important economic driver in the region and a leading test site within the NASA family. A representative from Brown’s staff will attend the ribbon cutting.

“NASA Glenn’s Plum Brook Station is an example of Ohio’s innovative strength in space technology and the sciences,” said Brown. “This project is an important step toward helping Plum Brook Station make the most of its extraordinary resources and potential in advancing space research.”

Brown has long supported the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and the Plum Brook Station. Workers from NASA Glenn Research Center helped to build and test NASA’s Orion spacecraft, which had a successful flight test in December 2014. Brown led Ohio’s Congressional delegation in urging NASA Administrator Charles Bolden to ensure that Plum Brook Station and NASA’s Lewis Field facility were used to design and test Orion.
