WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the following statement in support of Nissan workers seeking to form a union at the company’s Canton, Mississippi plant. The plant in Canton, along with two plants in Tennessee, are the only Nissan plants that are not represented by unions.
“Labor unions allow workers to speak with a collective voice for higher wages, safer working conditions, and better benefits. I strongly support the efforts of these workers to exercise their right to organize and vote on union representation. I urge Nissan to halt their efforts to sway the vote through anti-union tactics. Nissan must respect workers’ rights to decide on union representation and treat these workers with the dignity they deserve.”
