WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the below statement today following news of a bipartisan agreement to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA.)

“With 4,000 FAA employees furloughed and more than 70,000 construction workers at risk of losing their paycheck, I’m glad that the Senate and House were able to come to an agreement to ensure that the FAA returns to fully operational status. It would have been unconscionable for Congress to leave town until September without completing work on the FAA bill—a move that could have put vital safety enhancements and construction projects at airports on hold for at least a month or more. I applaud this resolution and am relieved that important projects at Cleveland, Dayton, and other Ohio airports will continue without interruption.”
