Washington, DC -- Today, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights held a hearing entitled “The United/Continental Airlines Merger: How Will Consumers Fare?” In response to today's hearing, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement:

“I have the same concerns today that I’ve had all along. I want to ensure that consumers have access to affordable and convenient air travel options, that this merger will not be followed by further consolidation in the industry that reduces service and increases prices, and that Cleveland will maintain its status as a hub. I will continue to work with Mayor Jackson and the Ohio congressional delegation to ensure that Cleveland can show itself to be an efficient and profitable hub."
