Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs – released the following statement on the resignation of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray.

“Under Rich Cordray’s leadership, the CFPB returned $12 billion in relief to more than 29 million Americans who were victims of predatory financial schemes,” said Brown. “All Americans owe him a debt of gratitude.  The White House has said it wants to stand up for the middle class.  If that's true, the President must nominate a successor who will put working people ahead of Wall Street.”
