WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement after voting against ending debate on a bill to grant President Obama with Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), or fast track, to finalize the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“We should not be voting to fast track the biggest trade deal ever negotiated without first taking care of the workers who could be left behind by the TPP,” said Brown. “The entire Democratic Caucus supported my bill to extend Trade Adjustment Assistance – and in the past, TAA has been extended with bipartisan support. We’ve got to vote on TAA before handing over the keys to trade deals that account for 60 percent of the world’s GDP.”
