Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) voted today to put key members of President Trump’s national security team in place on day one of his presidency. Brown voted in favor of retired Marine General James Mattis to serve as Secretary of Defense and retired Marine General John Kelly to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

“Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our country, and that’s why I voted to ensure President Trump has key members of his security team in place on day one,” Brown said. “I have great respect for Gen Mattis and Gen Kelly’s leadership in the military and I thank them both for their service. I look forward to working with the Secretary of Defense to ensure Ohio’s military installations have the resources they need to support our men and women in uniform, and with our Secretary of Homeland Security to deliver resources to Ohio’s police, firefighters and first responders.”
