WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) welcomed an announcement today that Amazon Web Services would open a new data center in central Ohio. During an announcement in Columbus this morning, Amazon outlined plans to locate a third facility in the New Albany International Business Park. There are currently data center facilities in Hilliard and Dublin.

“This new data center is great news for New Albany and central Ohio,” Brown said. “Amazon’s growth in central Ohio signals that this region is not only a great place to do business, but a place where people want to live and raise a family. I look forward to working to ensure that our region’s burgeoning logistics hub continues to grow – creating good jobs for Ohioans and helping businesses prosper.”

Brown is working to attract businesses to central Ohio and to help existing organizations grow. Brown worked with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to change the ZIP Code boundaries at the Personal Care, Health and Beauty Park in New Albany. The 1.4 million-square-foot facility previously fell under multiple USPS ZIP Codes, causing shipping and mailing delays at the supply chain center.

Brown also helped secure $16 million in federal resources to expand the Rickenbacker Intermodal Facility, creating jobs and opening central Ohio companies to new markets. The federal grant was used to complete the East-West connector, improving the roadways around the intermodal facility and linking the facility to U.S. Route 23, Interstate 270, and Interstate 71.
