WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that Edison Birthplace Museum in Milan will offer active duty, National Guard, and Reserve military service members and their families free entrance from Memorial Day through Labor Day, as part of the Blue Star Museums program. The program offers military personnel and their families free entrance into art centers, museums, and exhibits across the country in order to thank them for their service. Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation, and the participating museums.

Edison Birthplace Museum is located in the home that Thomas Edison was born in. It provides the community with exhibits highlighting his life and inventions.

“I applaud Edison Birthplace Museum for participating in Blue Star Museums” Brown said. “Our nation’s military service members and their families sacrifice so much and we should all give back in any way possible.”

Brown is a vocal advocate for military service members and their families. Brown is the only Ohio Senator to serve a full term on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and is Co-Chair of the Senate Air Force Caucus. He also is an original cosponsor of the VOW to Hire Heroes Law, which offers job retraining assistance to veterans between 35 and 60 years of age and provides tax credits for business that hire unemployed veterans.
