WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $13,376 has been awarded to the Woodmere Village Fire Department in Cuyahoga County by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Fiscal Year 2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) program.
“Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds ensure that firefighters in Cuyahoga County have the resources they need to perform their jobs well and keep our communities safe.”
This is round two of the competitive fiscal year 2010 Fire Prevention & Safety program.
Since 2001, fire departments and first responders have received funding from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. AFG enhances the safety of both the public and firefighters by mitigating fire-related hazards. FP&S resources – awarded through a highly competitive process – also support fire safety, research and development activities.
