WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that two Cleveland area airports have been awarded federal funds by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland has been awarded $224,068 to update the airport’s Master and Layout Plan documents. Lorain County Regional Airport in Elyria has been awarded $1,337,807 to mill and overlay approximately 9,100 square yards of asphalt on the apron pavement.

“This is great news for both Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties,” Brown said. “These improvements will enhance the safety of Burke Lakefront Airport and the capacity of Lorain County Regional Airport. These federal dollars will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses.”

Burke Lakefront Airport and Lorain County Regional Airport both serve as reliever airports.
