Sen. Brown Announces More Than $2.8 Million in New Federal Funds for an Early Head Start -Child Care Partnership at the Ohio State University

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded The Ohio State University (OSU) $2,860,083 in new federal funds to support an Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Partnership program. OSU’s Schoenbaum Family Center will work in partnership with the Child Development Council of Franklin County to provide Early Head Start programs for children at multiple locations across Franklin County.

“Early Head Start helps to ensure that children have the skills necessary to succeed in elementary school and beyond,” Brown said. “These funds will ensure that even more Franklin County families and children have the opportunity to benefit from early childhood services.”

Early Head Start is a federal program that provides children – ages birth to three – from low-income families with health, nutrition, and social services programming designed to ensure their healthy cognitive, social, and emotional development. Through the EHS-CC Partnership program, new or existing Early Head Start programs coordinate with local child care centers and providers to expand access to Early Head Start and provide year-long, full-day care and programming.
