Sen. Brown Announces More Than $500,000 for Medical Research at Southwest Ohio Universities

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Miami University and the University of Cincinnati will receive $504,087 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to fund health and medical research projects.

"These funds will ensure that our research institutions have the resources they need to produce cutting-edge scientific developments," Brown said. "These grants will help keep Ohio at the forefront of research development and will promote economic development."

The University of Cincinnati will receive $78,500 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for the Palatable Food and Synaptic Plasticity project, and the University of Miami will receive $425,587 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to fund studies on studies dinuclear metal ion containing enzymes.
