WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that two Ottawa County airports have been awarded federal funds by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). North Bass Island Airport in Port Clinton has been awarded $35,570 to purchase snow removal equipment. Put-in-Bay Airport has been awarded $548,734 to reconstruct 2,550 feet of Taxiway A and build a 1,670 foot partial parallel taxiway for accessing aircraft hangars.

“This is great news for Ottawa County,” Brown said. “These improvements will enhance safety and capacity at North Bass Island Airport and Put-in-Bay Airport. These federal dollars will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses.”

North Bass Island Airport and Put-in-Bay Airport are general aviation airports, both managed by the Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority.

Last month, Brown announced that two Ottawa County airports – Erie-Ottawa International Airport and Put-in-Bay Airport – were awarded $2.3 million for improvements.
