Sen. Brown Announces More Than $63K To Bolster Firefighter Protection and Education In Oxford

FY 2010 Funds will Help Provide Fire Prevention Training in Butler County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $63,360 has been awarded to the City of Oxford Division of Fire by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) Fire Prevention & Safety Grants (FP&S) program.

“Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds will ensure that firefighters in Oxford have the skills and training to help prevent fires and keep their neighbors safe.”

According to FEMA, the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program and helps firefighters educate the public about fire prevention and related hazards.
