WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that fire departments in Clermont and Hamilton Counties were awarded federal resources by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. Franklin Township Fire and EMS has been awarded $71,429 under AFG’s Operations and Safety category and the Cincinnati Fire Department has been awarded $23,787 through AFG’s Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) initiative.

“Firefighters and first responders keep our communities safe in times of crisis,” Brown said. “These new federal resources will help ensure that southwest Ohio’s skilled responders have the updated resources they need to safely do their jobs.”

The Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program helps firefighters and other first responders protect the public and themselves. Projects funded through the Operations and Safety category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective equipment.
