WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $42,880 has been awarded to the Cleveland Fire Department by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) Fire Prevention & Safety Grants (FP&S) program.

“Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds will ensure that firefighters in Cleveland have the skills and training to help prevent fires and keep their neighbors safe.”

According to FEMA, the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program and helps firefighters educate the public about fire prevention and related hazards.
