WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tri-County Career Center in Nelsonville will receive new federal resources to create a Regional Business Workforce Training Center. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $250,000 to the Tri-County Career Center in Athens County to create a custom training facility that existing area businesses can use to train incumbent workers as well as new hires.
“Economic development is on the rise in Ohio’s small towns and rural communities,” Brown said. “With the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission, these funds will help the Tri-County Career Center train workers for good-paying Ohio jobs.”
The ARC grant will fund training programs for topics ranging from customer service, hazardous materials, computer applications, regulatory compliance, and human relations policy.
