WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources will provide critical support services for homeless veterans in Cuyahoga County. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, Inc. in Brecksville has been awarded a new federal grant from U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL)  Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP). The $300,000 grant will be used to provide job training and support for homeless veterans.

“The men and women of the Armed Forces have been made a promise that if they defend our country, a grateful nation will provide them with services and benefits they have earned,” Brown, a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, said. “These federal funds are a down payment in the promise to support those who have already given so much to our nation.”

Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, Inc. will utilize the funds for a variety of support services, including education and job training, counseling, job placement and follow up assistance for homeless veterans in Cuyahoga County.
