WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources have been awarded to an airport in Knox County. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Knox County Airport has been awarded resources through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rehabilitate the Airport’s runway and install a wildlife perimeter fence.

“Knox County Airport provides important travel services to Mount Vernon-area small businesses, recreational pilots, and visitors,” Brown said. “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for the region.”

The airport will receive a $203,765 grant to be used for the rehabilitation of the airport’s runway and the installation of the fence that will protect the airport from unauthorized entry and wildlife hazards.
