WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Ironton Riverfront Boat Ramp and Docks in Lawrence County will receive new resources to update infrastructure and improve boating service. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a grant through the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) program to improve the Ironton Riverfront Boat Ramp and Docks.

“Preserving Ironton’s riverfront is an important priority,” Brown said. “These funds will help ensure that the riverfront is safe for our children and grandchildren to enjoy both now and in the future.”

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Boating Infrastructure Grant funds are used to construct, renovate, and maintain facilities with features for recreational boats that are 26 feet or more in length and used for recreation. Grants may also use funds to produce and distribute educational materials about the program and recreational boating.

The Ironton Riverfront Boat Ramp and Docks was awarded $636,000.
