Sen. Brown with Timothy and Phyllis Macke
WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met this week with Jefferson Awards for Public Service recipient Timothy Macke of Lima. Macke received recognition for his work leading a volunteer rescue group called “Second Responders.” Macke has recruited more than 40 volunteers to the group which assists area residents – especially single mothers and senior citizens – in preparing for natural disasters.
“The Jefferson Awards honor people who work hard to make our state and country a better place to call home,” Brown said. “I commend Timothy for his effort to protect Ohioans during times of crisis.”
The Jefferson Awards for Public Service were cofounded by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft, Jr., and Sam Beard to honor United States citizens for their community and public service.
