WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met with representatives of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) last week. The group attended Brown’s weekly coffee with constituents where they discussed the importance of research funding for the National Eye Institute (NEI) and expressed their support of a repeal of Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate.

“It was an honor to meet with Ms. Becka, Mr. Greenwood, Mr. Khalaf, Mr. Dave Lehmann, Mr. Mike Lehmann, Mr. Motley, Mr. Stechschulte, and Mr. Weber of the American Academy of Ophthalmology,” Brown said. “Their work is critical for the many Americans who need comprehensive eye care.”

The representatives of the AAO were Walker Motley of Cincinnati; Adam Weber of Cleveland; Michael Greenwood of Cleveland Heights; Dave Lehmann and John Stechschulte of Columbus; Mary Becka of Fairview Park; Hamzah Khalaf of Kent; and Mike Lehmann of Powell.

According to their website, AAO is an association of Eye M.D.s who work to ensure that the public has access to high quality eye care. For more information about AAO, please visit http://www.aao.org/about/.
