WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met this week with representatives of three fire service groups: the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association (OFCA), the Ohio State Firefighter’s Association (OSFA), and the Ohio Society of Fire Service Instructors (OSFSI). Chiefs Jeff Klein of Perrysburg, Porter R. Welch of Sunbury, and Paul Wright of Montgomery represented the OFCA; Tim Adams of Grafton Township, Chris Peterson of Lordstown, and Mark Resanovich of Green represented OSFA; and Dave Belcher of Pickerington, Chief Brent Gates of New Concord, and Steve Goheen and Jeremy Linn of Springfield represented OSFSI. The group attended Brown’s weekly coffee with constituents where they discussed the importance of providing hiring, training, and safety resources for fire departments.
“It was an honor to meet with fire chiefs, firefighters, and fire service instructors from Ohio communities” Brown said. “They provide a vital service for our communities and their work ensures the safety of the people of Ohio.”
The Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association provides programming and services to member fire chief officers including education, peer networking, professional development, and legislative advocacy; The Ohio State Firefighter’s Association promotes fellowship between firefighters, encourages education and safety training, and fights for legislation that saves lives and reduces property damage in the case of a fire; and The Ohio Society of Fire Service Instructors works to develop the skills of fire training and education specialists.
