WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, in advance of the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) offered the following statement:

“September 11 is a day of remembrance for the more than 2,600 innocent Americans and 370 foreign nationals who lost their lives in a senseless act of hatred. But while the events that day 12 years ago represent one of our country’s darkest hours, in its immediate aftermath our patriotism and dedication towards one another never shined brighter. Our first responders, recovery workers, and average Americans who were first on the scene exemplified true bravery and courage. And the men and women of our armed forces and civilian services continue to defend the United States so that it remains safe and free. May we never again experience a day like September 11, or forget its victims, heroes, and lessons that brought our nation—while in despair—closer to meeting its true promise.”
