WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement in response to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-01)’s budget request for Fiscal Year 2012:

“This proposal may be a ‘path to prosperity’ for millionaires, but it’s a dead end for working families, American seniors, and Ohio college students.   The Republican budget would privatize Medicare to give extra tax cuts to the wealthiest two percent of Americans and tax breaks to big corporations and Big Oil. After promising to listen to the American people, the House Majority has instead ignored them. The best way to reduce our deficit is to get people working again. There are 15 million Americans who would be delighted to pay taxes rather than collect unemployment insurance.”
