CAMBRIDGE, OH—U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s (D-OH) office hosted a career fair for job seekers today in Guernsey County. More than 50 businesses in a variety of fields—including healthcare, tourism, construction, transportation, manufacturing, and oil and gas fields—participated in the Southeast Ohio Jobs Fair, held at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge.

“Ohio has no shortage of hardworking potential employees,” Brown said. “We just need to ensure that skilled workers are connected with businesses who are hiring. That’s why today’s jobs fair is so important. And it’s why I’m working to ensure our workers have the skills needed for 21st century jobs—like those in high-growth industries such as biotechnology, clean energy, information systems, and advanced manufacturing.”

Brown’s office teamed up with local chambers of commerce—including Cambridge, Carroll, Noble, Tuscarawas, Monroe, Jefferson, Marietta, Coshocton, Harrison, St. Clairsville, and Zanesville-Muskingum chambers—and County One-Stop Employment Centers to help qualified workers in Ohio find available employment opportunities.  Colleges and career centers were on-hand to provide jobseekers information and advice on available training programs.

Last spring, Brown’s office held a job fair at Kent State University’s Stark campus in North Canton, more than 1,200 job seekers attended.
